Project Updates

October 21st, 2025

  • Had an initial meeting with faculty advisor to understand the project and plan moving forward.
  • Established website template
  • Determined initial guidelines for proof of concept

October 30th, 2025

  • Team members collaborated on the initial draft of the Game Development Document
  • Designed concepts for the world design and the level design
  • Finalized the intial draft of what was assigned this week and scheduled meeting with faculty advisor

November 7th, 2025

  • Spoke with faculty advisor about designed concepts and finalized it
  • planned meeting with nursing advisor to go over nursing related questions about the simulator

Novemeber 14th, 2025

  • Met with nursing advisor and went over nursing and specific questions about the simulator
  • Added Alberto Felix Castro to the project for extra assistance with development
  • Moving forwad to the development phase and determining each member's roles

November 20th, 2025

  • Had a meeting with the entire CAIR organization to showcase our progress and future timeline
  • Planned the first demo showcase for the simulator with the deadline being the next meeting on December 8th
  • Divided work between group members and begun the development process

November 28th, 2025

  • Started development of the demo by adding simple movement, multiple touch screen sources, dialogue, and UI
  • Had a meeting to go over the team's progress and update deadlines
  • Plan is to continue moving forward with the development process, meet with a possible new member of the team, and prepare for the December progress report meeting

December 9th, 2025

  • Created a demo presenting the main mechanics the simulator will use for the minigame
  • Developed functional UI and Main Mission quests to be modular
  • Presented the demo to Canyon Reasearch Labs and client
  • Scheduled a meeting with the client for the upcoming week

January 9th, 2026

  • Worked on several of the minigames and world
  • Had a meeting with faculty and nursing advisor to plan for symposium presentation and steps moving forward
  • Plan on finishing most minigames and having a more polished demo for next CAIR progress report meeting

January 15th, 2026

  • Met with Curtis, the new member for the Nursing Simulator
  • Provided context regarding the project to new member and developed a list of audio to complete
  • Showcased minigames to CAIR and made plans on developing audio manager

January 22nd, 2026

  • Prepared and wrote first draft for Symposium proposal
  • Had a meeting with both faculty advisor about future minigames, world area for the simulator, and information about an artist
  • Distributed work and plan to prepare a more polished demo for the next CAIR progress report

January 29nd, 2026

  • Collaborated with College of Arts and Media faculty to find two 2D Animation students
  • Added one 2D animator for the project and planned the roadmap for the art implementation
  • Created a more interactive nursing hub scene, along with preparing several key sound effects to be implemented

Febuary 8th, 2026

  • Disscused upcoming organization meeting with Faculty Advisor
  • Applied for Canyon Undergraduate Research Conference for all presentations to showcase simulator
  • Planned future roadmap of the simulator to prepare for the conference

Febuary 14th, 2026

  • showcases minigames with working sound at the monthly organization meeting
  • Prepared for upcoming Nursing tour that will our members a better idea of nursing equipment
  • implemented todo list for minigames and created several art assets to add
  • finializing two of the minigames to setup a 30s demo of the simulator

Febuary 21st, 2026

  • Implemented art for the oxygenation trial and temperature trial
  • Team members toured the GCU Nursing Sim Lab to take reference photos and get a better understanding of nursing as a profession
  • Began development of the world design
  • Distributed art and sound assets that would need to be created

Febuary 27th, 2026

  • Continuted work on fixing and optimizing trials
  • Started work on adding UI and interactive elements such as the world, inventory system, dialogue, and more
  • Planning on implementing more sounds and art, along with showcasing the newest addition of our game at the progress report

March 6th, 2026

  • Recieved the honor of presenting for the CAIR Breakout Session at the Canyon Undergraduate Research Conference
  • Continuing development for inventory, assets, sound implementation, trial fixes, and more
  • Disscused future respiratory assesment with nursing advisor and planned upcoming development over spring break
  • Plan to design and prepare for upcoming presentation for the conference and CAIR's end of the year celebration
